Category: Fundamentals Urate-lowering therapies (ULT) are treatments for chronic gout. Gout flares can occur when initiating ULT due to the redistribution of uric acid. Patients should take NSAIDs or colchicine for the first 6 months of therapy to prevent these gout flares.
