Esophageal dysphagia is caused by mechanical lesions. Mechanical lesions may be intrinsic or extrinsic to the esophagus. Intrinsic lesions include strictures, webs, rings, tumors, esophagitis, postsurgical changes and esophageal foreign bodies.
