Category: Critical Care Nursing Vocal cord edema from irritation by ETT removal may be immediate or delayed. Ensuring the ETT ballon is fully deflated should resolve this problem. Treatment includes humidified oxygen, racemic epinephrine or noninvasive ventilation (NIV).
